🎸 VIEWS & HIDDEN DATA: Understand how Kolsquare adapts to changes and developments in social media

Different platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok are constantly evolving, particularly in terms of how KOL performance is displayed and calculated. At Kolsquare, we always follow trends and adapt to all situations so that you can always understand how data is deployed on our tool.

Hidden likes

You may not see the number of likes under the content in your report. This means that the KOLs have decided to hide their likes for these posts.

On this point, we display alert messages on Kolsquare telling you why certain data is missing.

If you are working with a relevant KOL as part of your campaign, you can then manually enter the number of likes under these posts, and the report will be updated immediately.

You can also ask the KOL to share their statistics with Kolsquare by connecting to Kolsquare Data Connect before the start of your campaign. We will then be able to retrieve the number of likes, even if they are hidden.

It is particularly useful to make this request because if a KOL decides to hide their likes, this will also impact the KOLs' audience data in the Engaged Audience section.

❗ Special case: for certain KOLs listed on the platform, it is possible to manually update the audience data for Engaged Audience. When this option is available, it is clearly indicated on the platform via a specific button that allows you to submit the request free of charge. Once the action has been completed, the data will be updated within a maximum of 3 days. You will receive an email notification as soon as the results are available.

This manual intervention is necessary because Engaged Audience data is not always updated automatically on Kolsquare: it requires more in-depth analysis.

Please note: as soon as the Engaged Audience is available, all account statistics (including audience and followers) are also updated.

This feature only applies to KOLs with more than 1,000 followers and a significant amount of engagement on their content.

Hidden followers

On some Instagram profiles, often certified ones, you may notice that followers are hidden. When you notice missing data about followers, such as audience data, you can go to Instagram to check and click on the KOL's followers. A message will then indicate that only the KOL can see all of their followers.

On Kolsquare, as with hidden likes, alert messages are displayed to tell you why certain data is missing.

In this situation, we again recommend that you ask KOLs to connect to Kolsquare Data Connect, as this will allow them to provide data on their followers.

New Views: the new name for Impressions

As you probably know, Meta has decided to make Views its main metric for all content, including Posts, Reels, Stories, Lives, Carousels, etc.

This means that we at Kolsquare have had to adapt in order to continue providing you with clear performance data.

Here are the changes we have made for all content related to Meta (Instagram and Facebook):

  • Impressions & Plays are being replaced by Views

  • Views currently on the platform were actually “video views.” They were counted based on the viewing time of a Reel. They will disappear permanently and will no longer be counted.

On this last point, it is possible that some older content with the old metrics may show 0 old Views. This is completely normal as Meta no longer uses this View data based on viewing time. Please remain alert, as you may see slight decreases in EMV.

We are doing everything we can to ensure that your reports are not affected.

In summary: Meta no longer uses Impressions, Plays, or Video Views, but only VIEWS. This is the only metric available now. It corresponds to the number of views on a piece of content, and it is the only data that Kolsquare will use from now on.
